Vintage Raadvad Danish Slicer 294 Green Guillotine Cutter Mid Century Denmark. Model 294 - Green - Gold on the embossed Letters and Crown. Cast Iron Bread Slicer - Stainless Steel Blade. A bit of history: Danish knife maker Raadvad began to produce the world's first bread slicer in around 1890.

Body made of cast iron, blade of stainless steel. Radvaad's high quality bread slicer soon became a classic, making it's way into most homes in Denmark. It was a very practical way to cut thin slices of the famous Danish rye bread, used for Smørrebrød, open-face sandwiches. The rye bread is dense and heavy, so the thinner slices are more appetizing and you would get more slices from your loaf.
